CASS COUNTY, MO – A collision involving a wrong-way driver killed two women in Cass County Monday afternoon, the Kansas City Star reports.

Hammond of Belton, Missouri was driving a Toyota Highlander when she took the wrong ramp and ending up driving north in the southbound lanes of I-49.

The Toyota crashed head-on into a Chevrolet SUV driven by 73-year-old Janna L. Dillon of Clinton, Missouri.  Both women were pronounced dead at the scene.

A third vehicle was hit in the wreck, but that driver, age 51, was not injured.
The southbound lanes of Interstate 49 were closed for several hours for the crash investigation.
