News: Police investigating hit-and-run that injured man, child on KC street

KANSAS CITY, MO – A man and child were taken to the hospital Tuesday after being struck by a driver who left the scene, Kansas City police said.

 

The Kansas City Star reports the two victims were standing in a driveway on East 55th Street when the crash took place at about 5:45 p.m.  According to police, the driver of a Kia was driving east on 55th Street at high speed when the vehicle went off the roadway and hit the man and child.

 

The two were seriously injured and were transported to an area hospital, where they were listed in stable condition.

 

Investigators said the driver of the Kia kept going east on East 55th Street without stopping to help after the accident.  The investigation into the hit-and-run is continuing.
