Driver killed in crash after running red light at Kansas City intersection, police say

KANSAS CITY, MO – A collision between two vehicles in Kansas City Tuesday night left one of the drivers dead, according to police.

 

KCTV reports the accident happened in the vicinity of Linwood Boulevard and Van Brunt Boulevard, where police responded to the scene at 9:50 p.m.

 

Investigators determined that the driver of a Chevrolet Tahoe was going at high speed on Van Brunt Boulevard and went through a red light at the intersection with Linwood Boulevard.  The vehicle was hit by a Toyota Avalon in a t-bone style collision.  The Toyota driver was headed west with a green light at the time, according to police.

 

The impact caused the Tahoe to roll onto its side and the driver was partially ejected.  The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the Toyota was not injured.
