News: 5 injured, 2 critically, when SUV and pickup collide on I-435

KANSAS CITY, MO – Police said a collision in Kansas City early Friday morning left five people injured, including a 4-year-old child.

 

KSHB reports a pickup truck and an SUV were reported to have crashed in the northbound lanes of Interstate 435 near Winner Road at about 2:30 a.m.

 

The impact sent the SUV off the roadway and down an embankment, while the pickup overturned.  A 4-year-old in the pickup who was not restrained was hospitalized with injuries reported as life-threatening.  Three adults in the truck sustained minor injuries.  The driver of the SUV suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to an area hospital.  No one else was in the SUV.

 

I-435 was shut down for over three hours while police and emergency crews responded to the crash scene.
