News: Pickup collides with school bus in Kansas City, leaving 5 injured

KANSAS CITY, MO – Kansas City police said a pickup truck collided with a school bus last week, leaving five people injured.

 

A report by KSHB states the accident happened in the vicinity of 23rd Street and Wheeling Avenue Tuesday morning at about 7:30 a.m.

 

An investigation found that the male driver of a Dodge Dakota pickup was going at high speed on 23rd Street and crashed into the school bus as it turned left onto Wheeling Avenue.  The Dodge hit the bus on the right rear side, slid under the bus, and elevated the bus’s rear wheels off the ground.

 

The Dodge driver was seriously injured in the crash.  Of the 15 students on the school bus, four sustained injuries that were not life-threatening.  Three of the four were taken to a hospital.

 

Police are investigating impairment as a possible contributing factor in the accident.
