News: Driver charged with leaving scene of fatal Kansas City accident

KANSAS CITY, MO – Authorities announced that charges have been filed against the driver involved in a fatal crash in Kansas City earlier this month.

According to WDAF, 27-year-old Tyler Taylor was driving a Kia Sportage when the accident occurred March 10 in the area of Linwood Boulevard and Jackson Avenue.

Police said Taylor was driving at high speed when he made a turn onto Jackson Avenue and collided with a Camaro. The Camaro driver, 28-year-old Karlaysha Lucas, was ejected from her vehicle and died at the scene.  The Kia went airborne, overturned and landed on a parked car.

Taylor got out of his car and ran away after the wreck, according to court documents.  A witness followed him and managed to return him to police at the crash scene.

He has been charged by Jackson County prosecutors with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.  Prosecutors said there could be additional charges as their investigation continues.
