KANSAS CITY, MO – Police said a driver trying to elude officers crashed in Kansas City Friday night, leaving one person critically injured.
According to " target="_blank" rel="noopener">KSHB, the driver of a white Fiat 500 was reported to have fled from the area of 11th Street and Grand Boulevard at high speed after nearly hitting a pedestrian.
When police attempted to pull the Fiat over, the driver did not stop. Officers initiated a pursuit but it was halted in the vicinity of Charlotte Street and 13th Street.
The driver continued onto Interstate 70 going in the wrong direction, and then crashed into a Toyota Solara before hitting a guardrail.
A passenger in the Fiat suffered critical injuries and was taken to an area hospital. The driver of the Fiat sustained injuries that were not life-threatening.
Investigators believe that the Fiat driver may have been impaired at the time of the incident.
