News: Multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 35 in Clay County sends 3 to hospital

CASS COUNTY, MO – The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating a multi-vehicle collision in Clay County on Tuesday afternoon that left three men injured.

According to the MSHP’s accident report, the incident happened on Interstate 35 at the 6-mile marker shortly before 4:30 p.m. The driver of a 2015 Nissan was following too closely and crashed into the back of a 2023 Ford. The Ford then skidded in the path of a 2017 Toyota and was struck by that vehicle, with the impact causing the Toyota to overturn.

The Ford driver, a 36-year-old man, the driver of the Toyota, a 50-year-old man, and a passenger in the Toyota, a 54-year-old man, all suffered minor injuries.  The three, all residents of Kansas City, Missouri, were transported by EMS to North Kansas City Hospital for treatment.

The three injured were all wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
