News: Motorcyclist dies following multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 70

KANSAS CITY, MO – A motorcycle rider has died from injuries suffered in a multi-vehicle crash in Kansas City last week, police said.

According to KHSB, the motorcycle was involved in a collision with two other vehicles Friday on Interstate 70 near Stadium Drive.

Police said a tow truck had arrived with its emergency lights on to assist a Chevrolet Silverado that became disabled on I-70 west. A pickup truck was stopped behind the tow truck while waiting for a chance to pull into other lanes.

Witnesses told police that the driver of a Honda motorcycle was speeding at 80-90 miles an hour and weaving through traffic while heading west on I-70.  The 35-year-old motorcyclist apparently did not see the pickup and went under the back of the truck.

The rider was ejected from the bike and was thrown into another lane of traffic.  He was critically injured and pronounced dead on Wednesday.

The tow truck driver and the pickup truck driver were not injured in the wreck.
