News: Motorcycle rider dies following collision with car in Independence

INDEPENDENCE, MO – The Independence Police Department said a motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a car Tuesday morning.

 

The crash took place in the area of East 23rd Street and South Pearl Street at about 10:30 a.m., according to KSHB.

 

Investigators determined that the driver of a Suzuki Bandit motorcycle was headed east on 23rd Street when the bike crashed into the side of a Buick Enclave.

 

The motorcycle rider, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the Buick was not hurt.

 

Witnesses reported seeing the motorcyclist driving recklessly prior to the crash.  The incident remains under investigation by Independence police.
