News: Fleeing driver involved in crashes during Independence police chase

INDEPENDENCE, MO – Independence police said a fleeing driver caused two separate crashes during the course of a chase on Thursday night.

 

According to KSHB, the driver was involved in an initial accident in the area of U.S. 40 Highway and Interstate 470. When responding officers arrived, the driver allegedly left the scene and a police pursuit was initiated.

 

Two more crashes then occurred during the chase, near U.S. 40 Highway and Lee’s Summit Road.  Two people involved were hospitalized with undisclosed injures.

 

The driver who was the subject of the chase was taken into custody, Independence police said.
