BATES COUNTY, MO – A motorcycle rider died in a collision with a vehicle in Bates County on Saturday night, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
State troopers said 36-year-old Nickolas T. Alkire of Butler, Missouri was driving a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle west on Missouri Highway 52 when the accident occurred at about 7:30 p.m.
The driver of a 2016 Kia Rio was headed south on the Interstate 49 exit ramp, stopped and turned east onto Highway 52. Alkire’s motorcycle began skidding and crashed into the Kia.
Alkire was pronounced dead at the scene. The Kia driver, a 23-year-old woman from Columbia, Missouri, refused treatment at the scene.
