News: Driver killed when car crashes, overturns in Brush Creek in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, MO – Police in Kansas City said a driver was killed when their car plunged into a creek Thursday afternoon.

KSHB reports police and first responders were dispatched to the scene in the area of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and The Paseo at about 2:30 p.m.

Investigators determined that the driver of a Dodge Caravan van lost control on The Paseo in the icy conditions, ran off the roadway and went down an embankment.  The vehicle then went over a cement retaining wall and landed upside down in Brush Creek, where it became partially submerged.

The driver was extricated from the vehicle by rescuers and taken to an area hospital, where the victim was pronounced dead.  No one else was in the vehicle.

Kansas City police are continuing their investigation into the wreck.
