INDEPENDENCE, MO – Two vehicles were involved in a fatal accident on a highway in Independence Wednesday evening, according to KSHB.
The crash took place on US 24 highway at about 6:18 p.m. Police said the driver of a Chrysler had just come out of the parking lot of a Walgreens store and was preparing to head west when their car was hit on the driver’s side by an eastbound Jeep.
The Chrysler driver suffered fatal injuries in the wreck, while a passenger in the Chrysler was hospitalized with injuries that were described as life-threatening.
The Jeep driver had minor injuries, remained at the scene, and cooperated with investigators. The crash remains under investigation by the Independence Police Department.
Earlier in the day, KSHB reported a separate accident left one man dead.
In that incident, a driver going west on US 24 collided with a parked vehicle, killing the driver’s front seat passenger. The driver and a back seat passenger were hospitalized.
