JOHNSON COUNTY, MO – Police said a boy was struck by a car near an elementary school in Johnson County Tuesday morning.

According to WDAF, the incident happened on 52nd Street in Mission while the child was headed to Rushton Elementary School. According to police, the driver was not able to stop in time when the boy suddenly attempted to cross the street.

He was transported to an area hospital as a precaution but was not believed to be seriously injured. The driver stopped after the crash and cooperated with responding officers.
