JOHNSON COUNTY, MO – Five people were taken to the hospital after two vehicles collided in Johnson County on Friday night.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s report, the accident happened on U.S. 50 east of NE 501st Road at 7:30 p.m.
Preliminary details indicated that the driver of a 2025 Jeep Wrangler was heading eastbound and slowed down to make a turn. The driver of an eastbound 2013 Chevrolet Traverse was distracted and failed to slow, and crashed into the back of the Jeep.
A passenger in the Chevrolet, a 14-year-old girl, suffered moderate injuries and the driver, a 19-year-old man, had minor injuries. Both are from Holts Summit, Missouri.
Two passengers in the Jeep, a 65-year-old woman and a 38-year-old woman, sustained moderate injuries while the driver, a 49-year-old man, had minor injuries. The three Jeep occupants are residents of Warrensburg, Missouri. All five of the injured were transported to Western Missouri Medical Center.
The MSHP was assisted at the scene by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department and the Warrensburg Police Department. Both vehicles were totaled and removed by tow trucks.
