News: 2 dead, 1 seriously injured in head-on crash on Highway 291

CASS COUNTY, MO – Two people were killed and another seriously injured in a crash in Cass County on Wednesday morning, state troopers said.

 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s accident report stated that the incident happened on Missouri Highway 291 at S. Home Farm Road north of Harrisonville at 6:25 a.m.

 

According to investigators, the driver of a southbound GMC Yukon crossed over the center line and collided head-on with a Hyundai Elantra going north.

 

The driver of the Hyundai, 50-year-old Kirt Daum, and his passenger, 24-year-old Trysten Daum, died in the wreck.  Both were residents of Independence, Missouri.  The MSHP said both were wearing their seat belts.

 

The driver of the Yukon, 41-year-old Douglas Robinson of Garden City, Missouri, was seriously injured and taken to Belton Regional Medical Center.  He was not wearing a seat belt.
