News: Wrong-way crash on Highway 23 in Johnson County injures both drivers

JOHNSON COUNTY, MO – Two drivers were injured in a wrong-way crash in Johnson County on Monday afternoon, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

 

The accident happened on Highway 23 north of NE 500th Road, according to the MSHP’s accident report.

 

State troopers said the driver of a 2015 Toyota Sienna was driving south in the northbound lane of the highway at 2:38 p.m. and struck a 2010 Ford Escape head-on.

 

The driver of the Toyota, 47-year-old Zeshan Siddiqua of St. Joseph, Missouri, and the driver of the Ford, 40-year-old Benjamin Richards of Concordia, Missouri, both sustained moderate injuries. The two were transported to Western Missouri Medical Center for treatment. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash, the MSHP said.
