News: Wong-way collision in Kansas City leaves 1 dead, 2 critically injured

KANSAS CITY, MO – A wrong-way driver was involved in a fatal collision in Kansas City, Missouri early Saturday morning, according to a KSHB report.

 

Police were called to the area of Independence Avenue and Jackson Avenue after the incident was reported shortly before 3:35 a.m.

 

Investigators learned that the driver of a Chevrolet Malibu crossed over the double yellow line on Independence Avenue and ended up heading west in the eastbound lanes.  The Chevrolet collided head-on with an eastbound Ford Taurus near Jackson Avenue.

 

The driver of the Chevrolet died after being taken to an area hospital.  The front seat passenger in the Chevrolet was in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.  The Ford driver was also hospitalized in critical condition.

 

The cause of the wreck remains under investigation.
