KANSAS CITY, MO – One person was critically injured in a collision on Missouri Highway 150 Tuesday morning, Kansas City police said.
According to KCTV, a Chevrolet Ventura van crashed into the back of a GMC C7500 Straight Truck that was hauling dirt. A police crash report said the GMC driver pulled out onto Missouri Highway 150 near Prospect Avenue at about 8 a.m. and was increasing their speed. But the van driver was going over the speed limit, could not stop in time and hit the truck, going under the rear of the truck’s bed.
A female passenger who had been making sandwiches in the back of the van was thrown into the back of the front seats and was hospitalized with critical injuries. She was not wearing a seat belt, police said. The highway’s eastbound lanes were shut down for about two hours for the crash investigation.
