KANSAS CITY, MO – A tractor-trailer and a car were involved in a fatal collision in downtown Kansas City, according to the Kansas City Star.
The accident occurred Saturday morning on Interstate 70 near the exit for Walnut Street at about 8:30 a.m. Police said the driver of a Hyundai had stopped in a lane after having a flat tire, and did not have the hazard lights on.
The driver of a westbound tractor-trailer merged into another lane to pass another tractor-trailer, and crashed into the back of the Hyundai. The Hyundai driver, a woman, was pronounced dead at an area hospital.
The interstate was shut down for about two hours while the scene was being cleared. Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
