News: Woman, boy seriously injured in U.S. 50 rollover accident

JOHNSON COUNTY, MO – State troopers were called to the scene of a single-vehicle crash in Johnson County on Friday that left an adult and a child injured.

 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s report states that the incident took place on U.S. 50 west of NW 1501 Road at 5:21 p.m.

 

According to the MSHP, the driver of a 2004 Toyota Sienna was heading eastbound when the vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway, struck a culvert, and overturned.

 

The driver, a 41-year-old woman from Holden, Missouri, was seriously injured and transported to Research Medical Center.  A passenger, a 12-year-old boy, was also seriously injured and taken to Children’s Mercy Hospital Kansas City.

 

The boy was wearing a seat belt when the accident occurred but the woman was not, troopers said.  The car was totaled and towed from the scene.
