News: Woman, 18, dies after fiery car wreck in Platte County

PLATTE COUNTY, MO – A car accident in Platte County early Sunday morning claimed the life of a young woman, according to KMBC.

 

The single-vehicle accident took place on Missouri Highway 45 near North Main Street in Farley.  The Platte County Sheriff’s Office stated that the driver of a 2004 BMW M4 was heading south at about 4:30 a.m. when the car went off the roadway, came to a rest, and caught fire.

 

One passenger, an 18-year-old Kansas City woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver, an 18-year-old Riverside man, and three other teenage passengers sustained injuries ranging from minor to severe.

 

The Park Hill School District announced that the woman who was killed was a senior at Park Hill High School.

 

A portion of Highway 45 was shut down for about five hours while the crash was being cleared and investigated.
