KANSAS CITY, MO – Police in Kansas City are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a scooter rider early Saturday morning, reports Fox 4 KC.
Officers were called to the scene in the area of Eastwood Trafficway and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard shortly before 2:30 a.m.
Police learned that the rider of a TAO Motors scooter was going southeast on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and was turning onto Eastwood Trafficway with a green light.
At the same time, the driver of a dark-colored vehicle heading northwest on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard failed to stop for a red light at the intersection and struck the scooter. The rider died at the scene.
Police said the driver involved fled the scene after the collision.
