KANSAS CITY, MO – The victim of a hit-and-run incident in Kansas City last week has now been identified, reports the Kansas City Star.
This is an update to a previous story.
Police and family members identified the woman who was killed as 36-year-old Latoya D. Griffin, a mother of five who was blind.
The crash occurred Thursday in the vicinity of Winner Road and Blue Ridge Boulevard at about 7:30 p.m. Investigators said the driver of a Dodge Ram 1500 was going at a high rate of speed and hit two other vehicles. The Dodge then went off the road and into the parking lot of a store, hitting Griffin as she was leaving the store.
The driver fled the scene but was followed by two witnesses who alerted police that the vehicle had been headed down Winner Road. That helped lead police to the driver, who was taken into custody.
Griffin was pronounced dead after being rushed to an area hospital.
