KANSAS CITY, MO – A collision involving two box trucks left two people injured and shut down a portion of Front Street in Kansas City early Friday morning, reports the Kansas City Star.
The trucks collided near North Olive Street and the Missouri River shortly before 4:30 a.m., sending both drivers to the hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries.
The crash caused one of the trucks to go off the road, resulting in the rupture of its fuel tanks. The truck spilled fuel onto the roadway and then caught fire. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze, and a HAZMAT team was called in to clean up the fuel spill.
Front Street was closed in both directions near the 2500 block while the scene was being cleared.
