News: Semi-truck accident snarls traffic along Interstate 70 in Blue Springs

BLUE SPRINGS, MO – An accident involving a semi-truck caused traffic delays along a stretch of Interstate 70 in Blue Springs early Wednesday morning, KSHB reported.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the semi crashed shortly before 5 a.m. on westbound I-70 near Adams Dairy Parkway.  No injuries were reported and no other vehicles were involved.

The westbound lanes were shut down while state troopers and emergency crews responded to the scene, though it was reported that the semi did not lose its load or spill fluid.

Traffic was snarled for hours on the interstate, and drivers were advised to seek alternate routes.

About 90 minutes after the initial accident, the MSHP said two other vehicles crashed in the eastbound lanes of I-70 due to the slowdown from the semi crash. There were no serious injuries resulting from the second incident.
