News: Collision on I-29 in Platte County injures Kansas City woman

KANSAS CITY, MO – The Missouri State Highway Patrol was dispatched to a two-vehicle collision in Platte County early Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred on Interstate 29 at the 11.8-mile marker at about 1 a.m., according to the MSHP’s crash report.

State troopers learned that the driver of a 2016 Chevrolet Sonic was heading north on I-29 when the vehicle began skidding.  The Chevrolet went off the right side of the roadway and crashed into a concrete barrier.  The vehicle then struck the driver’s side of a northbound 2012 Jeep Liberty, causing that vehicle to come to rest over 250 feet from the point of impact.

A passenger in the Chevrolet, a 28-year-old woman from Kansas City, Missouri, was seriously injured and taken to North Kansas City Hospital.  She was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, state troopers said.

No injuries were reported for the Chevrolet driver, a 53-year-old man from Kansas City, Missouri, or the Jeep driver, a 29-year-old man from Kansas City, Kansas.  Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene.
