News: Rollover accident on U.S. 50 in Jackson County leaves 1 dead, 1 injured

JACKSON COUNTY, MO – One person was killed and another injured when their vehicle crashed in Jackson County on Wednesday evening, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

State troopers were dispatched to the area of U.S. 50 Highway and Lakota Lane in Lone Jack after the incident took place at about 6:45 p.m.

The MSHP’s preliminary investigation found that the driver of a 2004 Buick Rendezvous was heading westbound when he drove off the left side of the roadway, where the vehicle overturned.

The driver, a 50-year-old man from Fulton, Missouri, was pronounced dead after being taken to Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence.  His passenger, a 45-year-old woman from Pacific, Missouri, was transported to the same hospital with serious injuries.

Both occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the fatal wreck, troopers said.  No other vehicles were involved.
