News: Pickup truck driver dies after crashing into tree in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, MO – The driver of a pickup truck was killed when the vehicle crashed in Kansas City on Saturday afternoon, KSHB reported.

The fatal wreck took place in the area of Martha Truman Road and Blue River Road at about 1:30 p.m.  Police said that the driver of a Dodge Ram was heading south on Blue River Road at a high rate of speed and failed to follow the curve of the road.  The pickup went off the roadway through the dirt shoulder, then went up a dirt mound and into a tree line.

The Dodge rotated 180 degrees and crashed into a tree, causing the driver to be ejected.  The driver was pronounced dead at an area hospital.  No one else was in the vehicle.

Kansas City police are investigating the cause of the accident.
