KANSAS CITY, MO – Police and emergency crews responded to a fatal car accident at a university in Kansas City on Friday afternoon, KCTV reports.
The wreck took place in the area of Rockhurst Road and Virginia Avenue at about 2:40 p.m. An initial investigation revealed that the driver of a Nissan Murano was traveling south on Virginia Avenue at a high rate of speed and went through a stop sign at the intersection.
The Jeep collided with a parked, unoccupied Jeep Wrangler on the side of the road, then kept going south and went over a curb. The Nissan veered up a hill, started to roll and struck the Corcoran Building at Rockhurst University.
The Nissan driver was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
