News: Pickup truck and semi involved in fatal collision in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, MO – A pickup truck and a semi were involved in a fatal wrong-way collision in Kansas City early Saturday morning, police said.

 

The incident happened on Interstate 470 near the exit for Blue Ridge Road, according to a report by KMBC. Police said the driver of a Dodge pickup truck was going east in the westbound lanes of I-470 and slammed head-on into a semi at about 3:20 a.m.

 

The Dodge caught fire and the driver, the vehicle’s only occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi was not injured.

 

The accident shut down I-470 westbound for about four hours while the crash scene was being cleared and investigated.
