News: Pedestrian struck at Kansas City intersection by driver who left scene

KANSAS CITY, MO – Police in Kansas City said a pedestrian was hospitalized Saturday afternoon after being struck by a driver who left the scene.

According to the Kansas City Star, officers responded to the intersection of The Paseo and Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard after the incident was reported at about 3 p.m.

Investigators said the pedestrian was walking across The Paseo outside of a crosswalk and was struck by the driver of a silver vehicle.  The driver had gone through a red light before making a turn at the intersection, police said.

The driver kept going without stopping to help and was last seen headed north on The Paseo.  The pedestrian, whose name was not released, was seriously injured and taken to an area hospital.
