News: Pedestrian critically injured after hit by pickup truck in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, MO – A collision in Kansas City on Saturday afternoon left a pedestrian critically injured, Fox4KC reported.

 

The victim was hit by a vehicle in the area of Westport Road and Main Street at about 12:45 p.m.  The Kansas City Police Department said the pedestrian was crossing Main Street at Westport Road and was struck a GMC pickup truck that was making a right turn onto Main Street.   The pedestrian was crossing in a marked crosswalk with a red traffic control signal, according to investigators.

 

The person was knocked to the ground and was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.  The driver of the pickup was not injured, and stayed at the scene.

 

Main Street was shut down and the KC Streetcar was suspended for about 90 minutes during the accident response and investigation.
