KANSAS CITY, MO – A multi-vehicle wreck in Kansas City early Saturday morning killed one person and sent five others to the hospital, KSHB reports.
The incident happened along Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard, where a tow truck arrived at the scene to tow a Kia Sorento at about 12:13 a.m.
Police said the driver of the tow truck made a u-turn at Eastwood Avenue to begin towing the vehicle. At that point the driver of a Dodge Avenger going west on Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard did not stop at a red light and tried to go between the tow truck and a Cadillac Seville that was stopped at the light.
The Dodge crashed into the Cadillac, the tow truck and a Pontiac Transport van that was parked behind the Kia. The driver of the Cadillac, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene. Five people who were in the Dodge were seriously injured and taken to an area hospital. All were expected to survive.
The three other drivers and the passengers in the Pontiac were not injured.
