INDEPENDENCE, MO – The Independence Police Department released information regarding a fatal motorcycle accident that occurred early Wednesday morning.
Police were dispatched to the crash site near the intersection of U.S. 24 Highway and Duvall Avenue after a witness observed the incident shortly before 1 a.m. Evidence indicated the motorcyclist was heading westbound on U.S. 24 Highway when he lost control of the bike.
The rider was found off the roadway, and despite life-saving measures by officers and first responders, he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Based on further evidence on the scene, police said speed appears to have been a contributing factor in the wreck, which remains under investigation by the Accident Investigation Unit.
