News: Kansas City woman dies following wrong-way collision on I-29

BUCHANAN COUNTY, MO – Authorities said a wrong-way collision in Buchanan County early Sunday morning left one of the drivers dead, reports KSHB.

The incident took place on Interstate 29 near Faucett shortly before 1 a.m. The Missouri State Highway Patrol said 53-year-old Kim Pawling was driving south in the driving lane of northbound I-29. Her vehicle crashed into another vehicle that was headed northbound. Both vehicles went into the median and then off the west side of the roadway. Investigators said both drivers had attempted to avoid the crash by swerving into the passing lane.

Pawling, a Kansas City resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported in the wreck.

The interstate was shut down in both directions while the crash scene was being cleared.
