KANSAS CITY, MO – Two people killed in a car accident in Kansas City Monday morning have been identified by police, KMBC reports.

Police had spotted a Chevrolet Corvette speeding to get around vehicles stopped in the area of Linwood Boulevard and Holmes Street. Officers later determined that the Corvette driver had gone to the right of construction on the street and driven onto the sidewalk at East 31st Street and Troost Avenue. The car struck a metal traffic signal pole, went through a chain link fence, hit traffic barriers and caught fire.
Two people in the car were pronounced dead at the scene. They have now been identified as the driver, 33-year-old Delvon M. Landrum of Grandview, Missouri, and the passenger, 41-year-old Nickie L. Lewis of Columbia, Missouri.
The fire resulting from the crash was reported to have caused extensive damage to a building at the southeast corner of the intersection which normally houses a charity that was closed for renovations.
