News: Driver sought in hit-and-run collision that injured Kansas City doctor

KANSAS CITY, MO – The Kansas City Police Department is seeking the public’s help in tracking down the driver involved in a hit-and-run incident last month, according to the Kansas City Star.

Police said the driver struck a bicycle rider in the Sept. 17 collision in the area of Harrison Parkway and East 39th Street.  The preliminary investigation determined that the bicyclist was traveling west on 39th Street at about 8 p.m. when he was struck by a Ford Fusion going south on Harrison Parkway.  The bicyclist, Children’s Mercy Hospital pediatric cardiologist Saswat Das, was seriously injured.

The driver of the Fusion left the scene at a high rate of speed heading east on 39th Street.  Police have now released a photo of the vehicle believed to have been involved.  It is a red Ford Fusion that was made between 2013 and 2020 and may have damage to the driver’s side mirror.

Anyone with information on the vehicle or the driver involved in the incident was asked to contact the Kansas City Police Department.
