KANSAS CITY, MO – A truck driver was taken to the hospital Saturday afternoon after his vehicle was involved in an accident in Clay County, according to a report by the Kansas City Star.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the semi tractor-trailer was carrying cheese when it crashed and caught fire shortly after noon on Interstate 435 near Missouri Highway 210.
The driver was hospitalized with serious injuries.
The wreck shut down all southbound lanes and two northbound lanes on I-435 while the scene was being cleared. Drivers were advised to avoid the area until the roadway was reopened about six hours later.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash, which remains under investigation.
