News: Driver of stolen vehicle dies in crash after chase in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, MO – Kansas City police said the driver of a stolen vehicle was killed in a crash early Friday morning after trying to flee from officers.

 

According to a KCTV report, the incident began in the area of Linwood Boulevard and Van Brunt Boulevard, where authorities attempted to stop a stolen Ford F-150 pickup at about 1 a.m.

 

The driver failed to stop and after initiating a pursuit, authorities called it off because of safety concerns.

 

Police said the driver kept going north on Van Brunt Boulevard at a high rate of speed. After failing to negotiate a curve, the pickup veered to the right and flipped. The driver, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. No one else was in the vehicle.

 

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
