News: Driver killed when SUV slams into disabled tractor-trailer in Macon County

MACON COUNTY, MO – The driver of a sport utility vehicle was killed in a collision with a disabled truck in Macon County, Missouri on Thursday.

 

According to KSHB, the incident occurred on U.S. 36 Highway outside Macon shortly after noon. The Missouri State Highway Patrol said a Freightliner Cascadia tractor-trailer had broken down on the highway and was rear-ended by a 2015 Toyota Highlander.

 

The driver of the Toyota, 71-year-old Mary K. Kliethermes of Independence, was pronounced dead at the scene. The tractor-trailer was unoccupied at the time.

 

The accident remains under investigation.
