KANSAS CITY, MO – A high-speed car wreck in Kansas City early Thursday morning left a driver dead, police said.
A report by KSHB states that the incident happened in the area of Hardesty Avenue and Winner Road. A preliminary investigation found that the driver of a BMS 535I was heading north on Hardesty Avenue at a high rate of speed at about 4 a.m. when the vehicle crossed the double yellow line and entered the southbound lanes.
The BMW struck a concrete median, hit a metal traffic pole and continued north across Winner Road. The car then went up a hill, across a private driveway, and crashed into a building.
The driver died at the scene, while a passenger in the front seat was seriously injured and taken to a local hospital, where they were listed in stable condition.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
