WARRENSBURG, MO – An elderly man was killed in a collision at an intersection in Warrensburg on Monday afternoon, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The incident happened in the area of Young Street and Warren Street, where two vehicles crashed at about 1:05 p.m. State troopers learned that the driver of a 2019 Buick Encore was heading southbound and failed to yield at a stop sign. The Buick pulled into the path of an eastbound 2026 Ford Maverick, which struck the Buick in the side.
The Buick driver, a 100-year-old man from Warrensburg, was pronounced dead after being transported to Western Missouri Medical Center. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, the MSHP said. No injuries were reported for the Ford driver, a 73-year-old Warrensburg woman.
The Warrensburg Police Department, Warrensburg Fire/Rescue, and Johnson County EMS all joined the MSHP in responding to the crash.
