News: Arrest made in hit-and-run that injured young boy in Excelsior Springs

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS, MO – A person is under arrest in connection with a hit-and-run incident that injured an elementary school student in Excelsior Springs Thursday afternoon.

 

KCTV reports the accident happened on West 92 Highway near Cameron Road, where Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the scene at about 4:21 p.m.

 

According to the sheriff’s office, a 7-year-old boy was getting off a school bus at that location when he was hit by a Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck. The boy was hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening.

 

The driver was reported to have fled the scene going north on U.S. 69 Highway, but authorities say that driver has now been found and arrested. The incident remains under investigation.
