News: 92-year-old man dies following crash on U.S. 40 in Independence

INDEPENDENCE, MO – Police are investigating a fatal car wreck that occurred Tuesday night in south Independence, reports the Kansas City Star.

 

Police officers and first responders were called to eastbound U.S. 40 Highway near Kendall Drive after the incident occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m.

 

An initial investigation indicated that a 92-year-old man was driving a 2013 Ford Explorer while exiting the parking lot of an American Legion hall.   The Ford was struck by a 2018 Audi sedan heading east on U.S. 40 Highway.

 

The Ford driver died after being transported to an area hospital.  He was identified as Floyd Richardson of Independence.  The Audi driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
