JOHNSON COUNTY, MO – Two people were hospitalized after a two-vehicle collision in Johnson County early Sunday morning.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the wreck happened on U.S. 50 eastbound at NW 1801st Road at 3:18 a.m.
An investigation indicated that the driver of a 2023 Buick Encore GX was heading eastbound when the vehicle struck a trailer towed by another eastbound vehicle, a 1999 Ford F-350. After the impact, the Buick went off the right side of the roadway, struck an embankment, overturned and caught fire. The Ford came to a controlled stop in the roadway.
The driver of the Buick, an 18-year-old woman, was seriously injured and transported by ambulance to Research Medical Center – Kansas City. Her passenger a 23-year-old woman, suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Western Missouri Medical Center – Warrensburg.
The two, who were wearing seat belts when the crash occurred, are both from Sedalia, Missouri. No injuries were reported for the Ford driver, a 40-year-old Sedalia man.
