News: 11-year-old struck in hit-and-run while lighting fireworks in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, MO – Police in Kansas City said a child was struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run incident during a Fourth of July gathering on Monday night.

 

According to KCTV, the incident happened as the 11-year-old victim was lighting fireworks in the street in the area of Prospect Avenue near East 85th Street at about 11:30 p.m.

 

Police said the child was hit by a silver sedan traveling south of Prospect Avenue. The driver involved fled the scene after the collision.

 

The child was seriously injured and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

 

Police said the car they are looking for is a newer-model, white sedan with silver rims and a sunroof, with damage to its front side. It is a 2015-2018 silver Cadillac ATS.
