Driver critically injured following high-speed collision in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, MO – A car accident in Kansas City last week left one of the drivers critically injured, KSHB reports.

An investigation indicated that the driver of a Nissan Rogue had stopped at a stop sign at College Avenue and East 55th Street May 29 at about 2 p.m. As the driver slowly pulled out from the stop sign, the driver of a Dodge was coming from behind at a high rate of speed. Police said the Dodge driver tried to pull around the Nissan and ended up hitting the front end of the car.

The Dodge driver lost control and the car flipped, struck a wooden utility pole and sheared off the pole. The driver was hospitalized with critical injuries. Police are trying to determine whether the Dodge driver was impaired at the time of the accident.
