KANSAS CITY, MO – A passenger vehicle and a semi-truck were involved in a deadly collision in Kansas City last week, Fox 4 KC reported.
The wreck occurred April 15 in the area of Interstate 670 and Genessee Street shortly before 11:30 a.m.
The Kansas City, Missouri Police Department said an International semi-truck with a dump trailer was heading east on I-670 when it stopped in the second travel lane because of traffic congestion ahead. The semi was struck from behind by another eastbound vehicle, a Ford Explorer.
The front seat passenger in the Ford, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford was seriously injured and taken to an area hospital, where they were listed in stable condition. Another passenger in the Ford, a juvenile, suffered injuries that were not life-threatening. The truck driver refused medical treatment.
Eastbound Interstate 670 was closed at Interstate 70 for nearly three hours while the crash was being cleared and investigated.
